In its upcoming edition, the science magazine of the Max Planck Society features several of the research projects of the Haptic Intelligence Department.
Stuttgart - Robots that sense touch and feel their surroundings could provide health benefits or social support to people in need in the future. Katherine J. Kuchenbecker and her team at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart are working on robots that give hugs, help teach children with autism, and exercise with older adults. At the core of their work is giving the machines a sense of touch.
Several of the team's research projects were now featured in MaxPlanckForschung, the renowned science magazine of the Max Planck Society. "Roboter mit sanfter Hand" is the title of the article in German, which can be read here.
